Postdoctoral Associate in Genetic Epidemiology, Statistical Genetics, Bioinformatics
The Department of Epidemiology and The Center for Genetic Epidemiology and Bioinformatics (GeneBio) (http://epidemiology.phhp.ufl.edu/) at the University of Florida invites applications for postdoctoral research associates, available immediately, in genetic epidemiology, statistical genetics or bioinformatics. Successful candidates will perform integrated multi-omics, statistical and bioinformatics analysis to understand disease mechanisms and identify biomarkers and therapeutic targets for human aging and age-related diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, depression, Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders. The candidates will work on high-dimensional multiomics data sets, including WGS, WES, EWAS, RNA-seq, lipidomics, metabolomics and metagenomics in large-scale human populations.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching, mentoring, and research conducted in a dynamic academic health center environment. All candidates should have a strong interest in genetic epidemiology and statistical genetics, be highly motivated to conduct scientific research, be able to work independently in team-oriented projects, and are consistent, responsible and accurate for scientific research.
Qualifications:
Candidates should have 1) a PhD in genetic epidemiology, statistical genetics, statistics, biostatistics, bioinformatics or related fields; 2) strong quantitative background and advanced computer skills are required; 3) excellent writing skills in English and independent and critical thinking ability. Prior experience with high-dimensional omics data analysis and publications in genetic epidemiology, statistical genetics or bioinformatics are preferred.

The Department of Epidemiology is strategically situated within the College of Public Health and Health Professions (PHHP) and the College of Medicine.
